Description

The TerraMaster D5 Hybrid is a 5-bay desktop disk enclosure that combines two SATA 2.5/3.5-inch drives and three M.2 2280 NVMe SSDs in a compact chassis. Designed for hybrid storage, it pairs the large capacity of HDDs with the high-speed performance of NVMe SSDs and connects to host systems via a USB-C port supporting USB3.2 Gen2 (10Gbps) and compatibility with multiple protocols including Thunderbolt 3/4.

Advantages

The D5 Hybrid supports a mix of HDDs, SATA SSDs and M.2 NVMe SSDs to separate cold and hot data for improved efficiency. It offers up to 10Gbps transfer bandwidth, automatic backup support via the included TPC Backupper software for Windows, tool-free HDD trays with a Push-Lock mechanism, easy side-access installation for M.2 SSDs, intelligent disk sleep, temperature-controlled fan and enhanced power protection. How to use

Install up to two SATA HDDs/SSDs in the tool-free trays and insert up to three M.2 2280 NVMe SSDs via the side sliding cover using the supplied hand-tightened screws. Connect the D5 Hybrid to a host computer with the included 0.8 m USB-C cable. For automatic scheduled backups on Windows, install the TPC Backupper client and create a backup task to the TerraMaster device. Configure array mode for the two SATA bays as needed; place frequently accessed data on the NVMe M.2 SSDs for faster performance.

Usage recommendations

Use HDDs in the SATA bays for cold or archival data and NVMe M.2 SSDs for hot, frequently accessed data. Enable disk sleep to reduce power consumption and extend HDD lifespan, and monitor temperatures if all M.2 slots are populated to ensure adequate cooling.
