Tesa Paint Protection Film 04373-1-1 is a self-adhesive clear protective film sized 12 x 1.4 m, developed to preserve painted surfaces against everyday mechanical damage. The transparent film forms a thin removable layer that safeguards finishes from scratches, stone chips and minor abrasions while retaining the original appearance of the coated surface. It is suitable for use on automotive body panels, machinery housings and other painted substrates where a durable, invisible protective barrier is required.
The film is self-adhesive for straightforward application and provides a clear, non-yellowing barrier that maintains surface gloss and color fidelity. Its thin, conformable construction allows it to adapt to curved and flat surfaces without visible seams when applied correctly. The removable adhesive backing enables clean removal without leaving significant residues when removed as instructed, extending the life of painted finishes and reducing the need for early repainting or repair.
Clean and dry the surface thoroughly to remove dirt, grease and wax; a clean surface is essential for reliable adhesion. Cut the film to the required size, position it on the surface and peel back a portion of the release liner to expose the adhesive. Apply the film gradually, smoothing out air pockets and wrinkles with a squeegee or soft cloth while working from the center toward the edges. Trim excess material and allow the adhesive to set according to ambient conditions. For removal, lift an edge and peel back slowly at a low angle to reduce stress on the paint.
For best results, apply the film at moderate temperatures and on fully cured paint. Avoid stretching the film excessively during application and replace the film if it shows signs of deep cuts or extensive contamination. Test a small inconspicuous area before full application on sensitive or specialty coatings.
