Therm-a-Rest Trail Pro Self-Inflating Sleeping Mat, 1830 x 510 mm, Blue
The Therm-a-Rest Trail Pro is a high-performance self-inflating sleeping mat designed to provide exceptional comfort and reliable insulation for outdoor enthusiasts. Measuring 1830 mm in length and 510 mm in width, this mat features a 76 mm thick foam core that ensures a supportive sleeping surface. Crafted from durable polyester and polyurethane, it is built to withstand the rigors of camping and backpacking while maintaining its structural integrity over time.
The mat utilizes advanced StrataCore construction, which creates an optimal warmth-to-weight ratio by alternating ridges of air and foam. This design allows the pad to remain lightweight while providing significant loft and insulation. The inclusion of a stretch-knit top fabric offers a soft, skin-friendly surface that contours to the body, effectively relieving pressure points during sleep. Furthermore, the high-performance WingLock valve facilitates rapid inflation and deflation, allowing users to adjust the firmness of the mat with minimal effort.
This sleeping mat may not be the ideal choice for ultralight hikers who need to minimize every gram of pack weight, as its robust construction and 76 mm thickness result in a larger packed size compared to minimalist air pads. Additionally, those camping in extreme high-altitude or arctic conditions might require a mat with a higher insulation rating.
To set up the mat, unroll it on a flat surface and open the WingLock valve. The open-cell foam core will automatically begin to draw in air, expanding the mat to its full thickness. Once the initial self-inflation is complete, you can add a few breaths of air to reach your preferred level of firmness. To pack the mat, open the valve and fold or roll the mat tightly to expel the air, then secure it using the provided compression straps and stuff sack.
Usage recommendations: Store the mat unrolled with the valve open when not in use for extended periods to maintain the foam's loft. Always clear the ground of sharp objects like rocks or sticks before laying down the mat to prevent punctures.
