The Thermal Grizzly PhaseSheet PTM is a phase-change thermal pad that is solid at room temperature and liquefies during operation to provide effective heat transfer similar to thermal paste. It is electrically non-conductive and intended primarily for use between processors or graphics chips and their coolers. The pad begins to soften above 45 °C and reaches stable maximum thermal conductivity after several thermal cycles above 60 °C. How to use

Ensure both contact surfaces (heatspreader and cooler base) are clean and free of dust, grease or old compound. Place the PhaseSheet PTM on the component so it covers the contact area. Assemble the cooler and apply the recommended mounting pressure—optimal distribution typically requires higher contact pressure (around 300–400 N) to achieve a minimal layer thickness. Run the system through several thermal cycles above 60 °C to allow the material to liquefy, redistribute and stabilise its thermal performance.

Usage recommendations

For best long-term results, verify flatness of mating surfaces and ensure the cooler is mounted evenly to maintain consistent pressure. PhaseSheet PTM is more durable than standard thermal pastes but will not be as maintenance-free as harder phase-change sheets designed for near-permanent installations; periodic inspection is recommended in systems subject to heavy mechanical stress or extreme thermal expansion differences (e.g., copper coolers on silicon chips).
