The Thermal Grizzly Intel 1851 CPU Contact Frame V1 is a mounting aid for Intel LGA1851 motherboards that replaces the standard Integrated Loading Mechanism (ILM). Made from anodized aluminium with dimensions of 71×51×6 mm, the contact frame evens out pressure on the CPU and reduces concave deformation of the CPU Integrated Heat Spreader (IHS), improving contact between the IHS and the CPU cooler and resulting in lower temperatures.

Advantages

The frame reduces CPU temperatures by improving mechanical contact between the cooler and the IHS. It is made of anodized aluminium for durability and a clean appearance, and installation is straightforward, requiring only a few steps. When replacing an RL‑ILM or standard ILM, measurable drops in processor temperature can be expected.

How to use

Remove the motherboard's existing Integrated Loading Mechanism (ILM) and install the contact frame in its place following the included hardware and tools. Fasten the frame using the supplied screws and keys, then mount your CPU cooler as usual. During installation, ensure there are no electronic components directly under the frame area; this is especially important for Mini‑ITX motherboards. Observe manufacturer torque recommendations for screws if provided.

Usage recommendations

Removing the ILM may void the motherboard manufacturer's warranty. Expect temperature reductions of up to approximately 4°C when replacing an RL‑ILM and up to approximately 6°C when replacing a standard ILM, depending on cooler and CPU. Do not use the frame if the CPU IHS has been removed or machined beyond 0.2 mm depth.
