Hiking compass THOMS TZK775, aluminum case, lightweight, waterproof
Portable folding compass THOMS TZK775 with an aluminum case designed for outdoor navigation. The lightweight, waterproof housing protects the needle and mechanism, making the compass suitable for trekking, field camping, survival and emergency navigation. Compact closed dimensions and a durable aluminum body allow easy carrying in a pocket or backpack and reliable use on topographic maps.
The THOMS TZK775 features a fluid-filled capsule for smooth needle movement and a floating luminous dial for low-light orientation. It includes an adjustable luminous marching line, a thumb hole for stable map positioning and an integrated magnifying glass for reading map details. Map measurement scales for 1:25,000 and 1:50,000, 360° and 64 mil gradations, and a clear target line support accurate azimuth setting and location determination in the field.
Open the folding compass and place it flat on the map with the thumb hole over the map point you want to locate. Use the map scales printed on the baseplate to measure distances at 1:25,000 or 1:50,000. Allow the fluid-filled needle to settle, then rotate the housing until the needle aligns with the north marking. Read the desired bearing using the target line and set azimuths as needed. Use the magnifying glass to read small map details and the luminous elements for navigation in low light.
Keep the compass away from strong magnetic fields and large metal objects while taking bearings. Rinse and dry the aluminum case after exposure to salt water and store the compass closed to protect the needle and scales. For reliable map orientation, place the compass on a flat surface and wait for the needle to stabilize before recording a bearing.
