The TP-Link Omada SM5110-SR (TL-SM5110-SR) is a 10GBASE-SR SFP+ transceiver designed to extend 10Gbps Ethernet links over multimode fiber. It operates at an 850 nm wavelength and supports full-duplex 10 Gigabit Ethernet connections. The compact module measures 61.3 mm x 14.5 mm x 12.2 mm and is compatible with standard SFP+ ports, operating from a 3.3 V supply.
The SM5110-SR delivers high-performance short-range 10Gbps connectivity over multimode fiber, allowing link distances up to 300 m with 50/125 µm fiber and up to 33 m with 62.5/125 µm fiber. Its SFP+ form factor provides easy hot-pluggable installation and broad compatibility with SFP+ switches and network devices. The 850 nm optics are optimized for cost-effective short-reach multimode deployments.
Insert the SM5110-SR transceiver into an available SFP+ slot on a compatible switch or network device while the device is powered on or off according to the host documentation. Connect a duplex LC multimode fiber cable of appropriate type (50/125 µm or 62.5/125 µm) between transceivers at each end. Configure the host interfaces for 10G full-duplex operation as required by your network equipment. Monitor link status and diagnostics via the switch management interface.
Use 50/125 µm multimode fiber for maximum reach (up to 300 m). Keep fiber connectors clean and use proper transceiver handling procedures to avoid damage. Confirm compatibility with your switch vendor if the host enforces vendor lock or requires specific firmware settings.
