Heat-Shrink Tube UN RCH1 4.8/2.4-1, Red, model WRJCA4800240010030C1
UN heat-shrink tube RCH1 4.8/2.4-1 in red is a polyolefin sleeving that reduces from 4.8 mm outer diameter to approximately 2.4 mm when heated. It is designed for insulating, protecting and bundling single wires and small cable joints. The sleeving provides electrical insulation, mechanical strain relief and protection against dust and moisture in wiring harnesses, electronic repairs and general electrical installations.
This red heat-shrink tube offers predictable shrink ratio and consistent wall thickness after recovery, enabling a neat, low-profile finish on repaired or joined conductors. Its polyolefin construction delivers good dielectric properties and resistance to abrasion, while the color coding simplifies identification and organization of wiring. The tubing is flexible before and after shrinking, which helps accommodate routing in confined spaces.
This heat-shrink tube is intended for small-diameter applications and may be too narrow for larger cables or multi-conductor bundles. It does not provide the same mechanical protection or sealing performance as thicker-wall tubing or adhesive-lined (glue) variants, so it may not be suitable where a hermetic or high-impact seal is required.
Slide a length of the tubing over the wire or joint before making the final connection. After soldering or crimping, position the tubing so it fully covers the exposed conductor and any transition points. Apply heat evenly using a heat gun, hot air tool or appropriate heat source until the tubing has uniformly recovered to its final diameter and conforms to the underlying shape. Allow the tubing to cool and verify that the insulation and fit are secure.
For best results, use a regulated heat gun at moderate distance and move the heat source to avoid overheating; ensure the tubing fully covers exposed metal and that shrinkage is even along the length. Use color-coded tubing to simplify identification in complex harnesses.
