UNIPAK Thread Sealing Tape 12mm x 12m
UNIPAK thread sealing tape is a high-quality PTFE solution designed for creating secure, leak-proof threaded connections in various plumbing and heating systems. With a width of 12mm and a length of 12m, this tape provides a versatile and reliable method for sealing joints in water, gas, and compressed air installations. Its composition ensures excellent chemical resistance and long-term durability, making it a standard component for both professional plumbing tasks and home maintenance projects.
The primary benefit of using UNIPAK thread sealing tape is its exceptional versatility and ease of application. Because it is made from high-grade Teflon, it offers superior resistance to a wide range of chemicals and temperature fluctuations, ensuring that connections remain sealed under demanding conditions. The tape is non-adhesive, which allows for easy disassembly of joints when maintenance or repairs are required in the future. Its thin profile ensures a precise fit on various thread sizes, preventing bulkiness while maintaining a tight seal.
This tape may not be suitable for applications involving high-pressure steam or systems where the threads are severely damaged or corroded, as the tape cannot compensate for structural defects in the pipe fittings. It is also not intended for use in structural bonding applications where an adhesive sealant is required.
To use the tape, ensure the threads are clean, dry, and free of debris. Begin at the end of the male thread and wrap the tape in the direction of the thread, overlapping each layer by about half the width of the tape. Apply sufficient tension to ensure the tape conforms to the thread profile. Continue wrapping until the desired thickness is achieved, then tear off the excess and smooth the end down before screwing the fitting into place.
For optimal results, avoid over-wrapping the threads, as excessive tape can cause the fitting to crack or make it difficult to achieve a proper connection. Always ensure the tape is applied in the direction of the thread to prevent it from unraveling during assembly.
