Thread Seal Tape UNIPAK PTFE 12 mm — Gevindtape for Gas, Model D6-2963
UNIPAK PTFE thread seal tape 12 mm (model D6-2963) is a thin, flexible sealing tape manufactured from polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) designed specifically for gas threaded connections. The tape wraps smoothly around male threads to fill gaps, reduce thread friction and provide a chemically resistant, low-permeability barrier that helps prevent gas leaks in pipes, valves and fittings during assembly and maintenance.
The PTFE composition offers high chemical inertness and temperature stability while maintaining low friction for easy tightening of threaded joints. At 12 mm width the tape is sized to suit common gas fittings, enabling neat, controlled application and consistent sealing performance. The product resists compression set and does not harden or become brittle over time, which helps preserve seal integrity after repeated installations or disassembly.
Clean and dry the male threaded surface before application. Hold the tape with the tapered end on the thread root and wrap clockwise around the male threads, overlapping each turn by about half the tape width to ensure complete coverage. Apply 3–6 wraps depending on thread pitch and diameter, then press the tape into the threads with fingers and assemble the joint. Avoid wrapping over the first thread to prevent excess tape protruding into the flow path.
Use UNIPAK PTFE tape specifically on metal threaded gas connections. For critical gas installations follow local regulations and codes, and where required consult a qualified technician. Store the tape in a dry, cool place away from direct sunlight to maintain material properties.
