Plumbing PTFE Tape UNIPAK Jumbotape 19 mm x 16.5 m (model 13116)
UNIPAK Jumbotape 19 mm x 16.5 m is a PTFE (Teflon) sealing tape designed for plumbing and water installation applications. The tape forms a thin, chemically inert layer on threaded pipe joints and fittings to reduce the risk of leaks and ensure a reliable seal. Its 19 mm width and 16.5 m length make it suitable for a range of common residential and commercial plumbing tasks, including new installations, repairs and routine maintenance of water lines and fixtures.
The tape provides a low-friction, non-reactive sealing layer that resists water and many common chemicals used in plumbing systems. Its consistent thickness and good conformability allow tight threads to be sealed without building up excess material, while the 19 mm width covers standard fitting threads efficiently. Being PTFE, the material does not deteriorate under normal water-system conditions and helps prevent galling on metal threads.
Clean and dry the male thread before applying the tape. Hold the tape on the end of the pipe and wrap clockwise around the thread so that the tape tightens when the fitting is screwed on. Overlap each turn slightly, using two to four full wraps for most standard threads; more wraps may be used for coarser or damaged threads. Tear or cut the tape and press the loose edge into the threads before assembling the joint. Do not apply tape to female threads or to tapered compression fittings where another sealing method is specified.
Store the roll in a dry place away from direct sunlight and high temperatures. For potable water systems, ensure compatibility with local plumbing codes and avoid contamination by keeping tape clean during application. Use an appropriate number of wraps to achieve a leak-free joint without excessive tape buildup.
