Paint set VALLEJO Model Air 71.155 — Air War US Navy & USMC Colors (8 x 18 ml)

VALLEJO Model Air 71.155 — Air War US Navy & USMC Colors (8 x 18 ml) is a compact set of eight acrylic airbrush paints formulated for scale models and military aircraft replicas. The set includes a selection of service and camouflage colors used by the US Navy and the US Marine Corps from the 1970s to the present. Each bottle contains pre-thinned, airbrush-ready acrylic paint designed to deliver consistent pigmentation and smooth spray performance on plastic, resin and metal model surfaces.

Advantages

The paints are supplied in 18 ml bottles with pre-thinned consistency suitable for direct airbrush use, reducing or eliminating the need for additional thinning for most hobby compressors and airbrush setups. The acrylic formulation dries to a uniform, satin-matte finish and is compatible with common modelling primers and clear coats. Pigment load and flow are balanced to enable even coverage, fine detail work and layering for weathering and shading effects.

Suitable for

• Scale aircraft models representing US Navy and USMC aircraft from the 1970s to modern eras
• Military dioramas and display pieces requiring historically appropriate service colors
• Plastic, resin and metal model kits where airbrush application is preferred
• Detail painting, camouflage patterns and base coats prior to weathering

When it may not be suitable

This set is focused on airbrush application and may not be optimal for brush-only modelers who require thicker, brush-ready paints. Very large surfaces or non-model hobby applications could need larger volume containers or different paint series formulated for fine art or automotive use. For optimal adhesion and durability, the paints perform best when applied over an appropriate primer and finished with compatible clear coats.

Key specifications

• Quantity: eight individual color bottles
• Volume per bottle: 18 ml of paint
• Type: water-based acrylic, pre-thinned for airbrush
• Finish: satin-matte when dry
• Compatibility: formulated for plastic, resin and metal model surfaces

How to use

Shake each bottle well before use to ensure uniform pigment dispersion. Pour or draw paint into the airbrush cup and spray in thin, even passes, maintaining a consistent distance and air pressure to avoid pooling. Allow layers to flash-dry between coats and build color gradually to achieve uniform coverage and avoid obscuring fine details. After finishing, clean the airbrush with appropriate cleaner or water according to the paint manufacturer’s guidance.

What to consider before purchase

• Intended application method: optimized for airbrush use rather than brush-only techniques
• Surface preparation: use a compatible primer for best adhesion and true color reproduction
• Volume needs: 18 ml bottles are suited to modeling projects; larger projects may require additional sets or complementary paints

Usage recommendations

For best results on scale aircraft, start with a light primer, apply multiple thin airbrushed coats, and perform masking for sharp camouflage edges. Finish with an appropriate clear coat for sealing and subsequent weathering steps.
