Single-phase bidirectional energy meter VCX SDM120M with Modbus (MID)
Single-phase bidirectional energy meter VCX SDM120M with Modbus (MID)
VCX SDM120M is a single-phase bidirectional energy meter with Modbus communication and MID approval. It is designed to measure active energy in both import and export directions, providing measurement and monitoring of electrical parameters for residential and small commercial installations. The device supports integration with building management systems and inverters via Modbus RTU, making it suitable for solar generation monitoring, battery systems and precise consumption metering where bidirectional energy accounting is required.
The meter offers MID-approved accuracy for billing-grade active energy measurement in both directions and uses Modbus RTU for reliable data exchange with controllers and energy management systems. Compact DIN-rail mounting and a clear LCD display enable straightforward installation and on-site reading. Designed for single-phase circuits, the unit provides continuous measurement of active power, energy, voltage and current without requiring additional converters.
Install the VCX SDM120M on a DIN rail inside the distribution board and connect the meter according to the single-phase wiring diagram: line, neutral and current inputs. Connect the Modbus RTU communication pair to the supervisory controller or inverter using the specified RS-485 wiring and set the device address, baud rate and parity to match the system. Verify polarity and CT orientation when used with external current transformers. After commissioning, monitor energy flow and export/import values through the local display or via Modbus registers in the connected system.
Use short, shielded cables for Modbus connections and ensure a common ground reference to reduce communication errors. Verify MID compliance and local metering regulations before using the meter for billing. For installations with higher currents, pair the meter with appropriately rated current transformers and check CT ratio settings in the device configuration.
