Photoelectric sensor VELLEMAN PEM10D — AC 12–240 V, compact housing 20×39×63 mm
The VELLEMAN PEM10D is a photoelectric sensor designed for reliable object detection and presence sensing in industrial and automation environments. It accepts a wide AC supply range of 12–240 V, housed in a compact rectangular enclosure measuring 20 × 39 × 63 mm. The PEM10D combines space-saving dimensions with a normally open output and a long cable lead, making it suitable for installations where flexible placement and a broad input voltage tolerance are required.
The sensor's wide AC input range simplifies wiring and integration across different control systems without the need for additional power converters. Its compact housing enables mounting in tight spaces or on machinery with limited clearance. A normally open output provides straightforward interfacing with PLCs, relays or safety circuits, and the included mounting bracket and screws make installation quicker and more secure. The extended cable length allows versatile positioning relative to the control unit.
Mount the sensor using the supplied bracket and screws in a position where the sensing beam can reliably detect the target object. Connect the sensor to an AC supply within the 12–240 V range and wire the normally open output to the input of your PLC, relay or control device following standard electrical safety practices. Adjust alignment and distance so that the detected object interrupts or reflects the beam as intended. Verify operation by cycling the machine or moving test objects through the detection zone and confirm consistent switching behavior.
For reliable detection, ensure the sensing path is free from dust, steam or obstructions that could cause false readings. Protect cable runs from mechanical damage and avoid routing near high-voltage power lines to reduce electrical interference. Use suitable mounting locations that minimize vibration and align the sensor so the target reflects or interrupts the beam within the recommended sensing range for consistent performance.
