Studio microphone Warm Audio WA-8000
The Warm Audio WA-8000 is a professional studio microphone designed for detailed vocal and acoustic capture. It features an upgraded all-brass, K-67 inspired capsule and a classic tube circuit that reproduce a wide frequency range from 20 to 20,000 Hz with a sensitivity of 15 dB. The WA-8000 connects via wired XLR/USB interface and is supplied with a 5 m premium GAC-7 cable. Finished in black, the microphone measures 149 mm in height and 4.35 cm in diameter and is supplied as a set of four units, providing a consistent recording solution for studio applications.
The WA-8000 combines a custom all-brass K-67 inspired capsule with a Lundahl large-core transformer to deliver a clear, open top end and a wide soundscape. A carefully selected NOS 6AU6 vacuum tube and a custom heat sink reduce self-noise and distortion by maintaining optimal operating temperature. The included Gotham GAC-7 7-pin premium cable minimizes phase shift and parasitic effects to preserve top-end presence and stereo image size. Wired XLR/USB connectivity ensures compatibility with a range of interfaces and setups.
Mount the WA-8000 on a stable mic stand using an appropriate shock mount to reduce vibration. Connect the microphone to your preamp or power supply using the supplied GAC-7 cable and the XLR/USB interface as required by your setup. Allow the tube to warm up for the recommended manufacturer period before critical recording to reach stable operating temperature. Position the capsule toward the sound source and set input gain on your preamp conservatively to avoid clipping; adjust distance and off-axis angle to shape presence and room interaction.
For best results, use the WA-8000 in a controlled acoustic environment and allow sufficient tube warm-up time. Pair with quality preamps and a Lundahl-friendly signal chain to preserve the microphone’s open top end and wide stereo image. When deploying multiple units from the set, match placement and gain staging to ensure consistent tonal balance across sources.
