The design builds on proven hardware and firmware from previous Ultrastar generations to simplify qualification and integration while maintaining high dependability. Features such as energy-assisted Perpendicular Magnetic Recording (ePMR), OptiNAND™ with embedded iNAND® flash, and Rotational Vibration Safeguard (RVS) work together to maximize rack-space efficiency, improve performance, and protect the drive in demanding datacenter environments.

Advantages

The drive delivers very high capacity (up to 26TB) in a conventional form factor, enabling greater storage density without changing infrastructure. It uses ePMR to increase tracks-per-inch (TPI) and OptiNAND™ to offload housekeeping tasks to embedded flash, freeing usable capacity and improving overall performance. RVS and Dynamic Fly Height technologies provide protection against vibration and shock, and selectable ArmorCache™ modes let you prioritize random write performance or cache protection during power loss. Western Digital backs the product with a 2.5M-hour MTBF rating and a 5-year limited warranty.
