Elatec TWN4 Legic NFC RFID Card Reader is a compact multi-standard reader that supports a wide range of 125 kHz, 134.2 kHz and 13.56 MHz transponders and contactless smartcards. Compatible with major transponder families and ISO standards such as ISO14443 A/B (including T=CL), ISO15693 and ISO18092/ECMA-340 (NFC), the TWN4 series continues the form factor of the previous TWN3 generation and is available as an OEM PCB or in a desktop housing. Interfaces for host communication include USB, RS232 and TTL serial, and the RF frontend (for example LEGIC) can be accessed directly.
The reader offers broad compatibility across manufacturers and standards (ATMEL, EM, ST, NXP, TI, HID, LEGIC, INSIDE and others), simplifying integration into heterogeneous environments. Retaining the TWN3 mechanical dimensions ensures drop-in replacement and easy upgrade paths. Multiple host interfaces (USB, RS232, TTL) provide flexible connection options for embedded and desktop applications while direct RF frontend access enables advanced control of supported technologies.
Mount the reader in the chosen form factor (OEM PCB or desktop housing) and connect it to the host system using USB, RS232 or TTL serial depending on your application. Install any required drivers or SDK provided by Elatec/Xerox, then configure supported transponder profiles and communication settings via the provided configuration tools or command set. Present compatible cards or tags to the reader’s antenna area to read or write data according to the configured protocols.
For system reliability, use the manufacturer’s latest firmware and configuration tool to enable only the required protocols and transponder types. Verify electrical and mechanical compatibility when replacing TWN3 devices to ensure proper mounting and connector alignment.
