Bistable Relay ZAMEL PBM-02, 16A, 230V AC
The ZAMEL PBM-02 bistable relay is a latching switching module rated for 16 A load current and designed to operate on a 230 V AC supply. It changes the contact state on a control pulse and retains that state without continuous coil power, making it appropriate for installations where energy-efficient switching and state retention are required. The compact housing allows DIN-rail or panel mounting and integration into lighting circuits, motor control lines, and building automation systems.
The bistable design maintains contact position after a control pulse, eliminating the need for continuous coil energisation and reducing standby power consumption. With a 16 A switching capacity at 230 V AC it supports common lighting and small motor loads. The relay’s compact form factor and standard mounting options simplify installation in distribution boards and control panels. Pulse control operation reduces wiring complexity where momentary inputs or push-buttons are used.
This relay is intended for AC mains environments and is not suitable for low-voltage DC control circuits without confirming compatibility. It is designed for switching loads up to 16 A; for higher current or inductive loads with significant inrush, a different relay or contactor with appropriate ratings should be chosen. Where rapid switching cycles or very high switching frequencies are needed, a solid-state solution may be more appropriate.
Install the PBM-02 in a suitable enclosure on a DIN-rail or secure to the panel following local electrical regulations. Connect the mains supply and load conductors to the relay’s input and output terminals as indicated by the manufacturer’s wiring diagram. Use momentary push-buttons or a pulse-type control signal to toggle the contact state; the relay will retain its last position after the pulse ends. Ensure protective devices such as circuit breakers and appropriate fuses are fitted in the supply and load circuits before commissioning.
For reliable operation, pair the bistable relay with proper overload protection and, for inductive loads, use RC snubbers or surge protection as recommended for the load type. Test the control pulse length and wiring before finalising installation to ensure consistent switching behaviour.
