3D Spectrum HIPS-X 1.75 mm filament — 1 kg, Black (Deep Black)
3D Spectrum HIPS-X 1.75 mm filament — 1 kg, Black (Deep Black) is a high-impact polystyrene filament formulated for FDM/FFF 3D printers that accept 1.75 mm filament. Supplied on a standard-width spool and vacuum-packed with a moisture absorber, this Deep Black HIPS filament is intended for use as a support material for ABS parts and as a functional material where reduced processing shrinkage, matte surface finish and mechanical post-processing are required.
HIPS-X provides high impact and compression resistance and produces matte surfaces with reduced layer visibility. Like ABS, it can be mechanically worked (cutting, grinding, turning or milling) and the relatively low hardness facilitates easy separation of printed sections. The filament is fully soluble in D-Limonene, enabling reliable removal of support structures when used with ABS.
Load the 1.75 mm HIPS-X filament into an FDM/FFF printer configured for this diameter and follow printer-specific filament loading procedures. When used as a support for ABS, print HIPS-X as the support material and ABS as the build material; after printing, dissolve the HIPS-X supports in D-Limonene to separate them from the ABS part. Adjust extrusion settings, retraction and cooling according to your printer and slicing software recommendations to achieve consistent extrusion and matte surface quality.
Store the spool vacuum-packed with a moisture absorber until use. For best results with ABS/HIPS dual extrusion, calibrate nozzle alignment and extrusion multipliers for both materials; test small prints to determine optimal temperature, flow and support density before committing to long or large prints.
