Protective Coverall 3M 4520 White
The 3M™ Protective Coverall 4520 is a lightweight protective garment constructed from multiple layers of SMMMS (spunbond/meltblown) at 43 g/m² to provide particle and splash protection while remaining breathable and soft. Designed for extended wear, the coverall resists static discharge and is classified for Type 5 (dust) and Type 6 (liquid splash) protection; it also meets standards for antistatic performance and nuclear particulate resistance. The garment includes a three-panel hood, knitted cuffs, a two-way zip, and ankle and waist elastic for fit and easier removal.
The SMMMS construction combines outer and inner spunbond layers for strength and splash resistance with three meltblown layers to filter dry particulates, delivering effective holdout at a low fabric weight. The non-woven material is breathable and has a cloth-like feel for improved comfort and moisture release during prolonged use. Antistatic performance to EN 1149 reduces risk of discharge, while the green triangular identification patch is made from the same 43 g/m² material for consistent performance. Practical design features—hood compatible with other PPE, soft knitted cuffs, two-way zipper and elasticated waist and ankles—support ease of movement and removal.
Choose the correct size and inspect the coverall for damage before use. Put on the garment by inserting arms and legs, position the hood over the head and fasten the two-way zipper to the required level, adjusting the elasticated waist and ankles for fit. Use knitted cuffs to secure sleeves beneath gloves. After use, remove the coverall by unzipping and peeling it away from the body to avoid contaminating skin or clothing; follow local procedures for disposal or decontamination.
Use the 3M 4520 where particulate control and light splash protection are required; do not use for sustained liquid immersion, hazardous chemical sprays, or where certified chemical permeation resistance is required. Combine with appropriate respiratory, eye and hand protection when task hazards demand.
