The ADAPTEC Microsemi ACK-I-mSASx4-SAS4x1-FO-1M R is an internal fan-out cable that converts a mini SAS x4 (SFF-8087) controller port to four individual SAS/SATA device connectors (SFF-8482). The cable is 1 meter long and includes removable power dongles for drive powering where required. It supports 3 Gbit/s signaling and is designed for use inside server and storage chassis to connect a controller to multiple drives without external adapters.
This fan-out cable provides a compact and reliable internal connection between a controller with an SFF-8087 mini SAS port and up to four drives with SFF-8482 connectors. The removable power dongles allow flexibility for different drive power configurations. With a 1 m length the cable offers enough reach for most rack and tower server layouts while keeping cable management straightforward. The cable supports standard 3 Gbit/s SAS/SATA link speeds and is manufactured to meet the mechanical and electrical requirements typical for server-grade interconnects.
Install the cable by plugging the SFF-8087 mini SAS connector into the controller or host adapter’s corresponding internal port. Route the fan-out cable inside the chassis to each drive bay and connect each SFF-8482 connector to the drive. If drives require separate power through the removable dongles, attach the dongles as specified by the drive and controller documentation. Ensure connectors are seated fully and that the cable is secured to avoid strain on connectors during operation.
Confirm controller and drive compatibility with 3 Gbit/s SAS/SATA signaling before installation. Maintain proper airflow and avoid sharp bends; secure the cable to chassis mounting points to prevent connector stress. Use the removable power dongles only when required by the drive model and follow the drive manufacturer’s power wiring guidelines.
