Drill bit Art-Pol HSS straight shank for metal 19 mm (53190)
Drill bit Art-Pol HSS straight shank for metal 19 mm (53190)
Art-Pol HSS straight shank drill bit, 19 mm diameter, designed for drilling metal. Made from carbide-free high-speed steel (HSS) with a geometry optimised for general metalworking, this drill bit is intended to create clean, precise holes in steel, iron and non-hardened metal alloys. The straight shank fits standard chucks on handheld drills and drill presses where the chuck accepts this shank size.
The HSS material offers good hardness and toughness for conventional metal drilling without the brittleness of carbide tips. The cutting geometry and edge sharpening are suited to a wide range of ferrous and non-hardened non-ferrous metals, giving stable performance in intermittent or continuous drilling operations. A straight shank provides simple clamping in compatible chucks and is convenient for both portable and stationary drilling equipment.
Secure the drill bit firmly in the chuck, ensuring correct centring and tight clamping. Select an appropriate cutting speed and feed rate for the workpiece material—lower speeds for harder steels, higher speeds for softer non-ferrous metals. Use a suitable cutting lubricant or coolant when drilling steel to reduce heat and prolong tool life. Start drilling with a pilot mark or centre punch to prevent slipping, apply steady pressure, and withdraw periodically to clear chips when drilling deeper holes.
For best results, use cutting fluid when drilling steel, clamp the workpiece securely, and match drill speed to the material. Replace the bit when wear or chipping degrades hole quality.
