Drill bit Art-Pol HSS cylindrical for metal 3.5 mm
Art-Pol cylindrical HSS drill bit, 3.5 mm diameter, intended for drilling metal. Made of high-speed steel (HSS) to provide wear resistance and maintain cutting performance when creating through-holes or pilot holes in steel, cast iron and non-ferrous metals. The cylindrical shank fits standard drill chucks and is suitable for use with hand drills and drill presses in workshops, repair jobs and general metalworking tasks.
The HSS material ensures good heat resistance under moderate drilling loads and a long service life when used with appropriate speeds and lubrication. The cylindrical shank offers stable clamping in standard chucks and straightforward interchangeability. The 3.5 mm diameter is well suited for precise small-diameter holes and pilot drilling before tapping or larger reaming operations.
Secure the workpiece firmly using a vise or clamps to prevent movement. Install the 3.5 mm drill bit into the drill chuck and tighten it securely. Select a drilling speed appropriate for the material being worked—lower speeds for harder steels and higher speeds for softer non-ferrous metals. Apply steady pressure without forcing the bit; allow the HSS cutting edges to remove material gradually. Use cutting fluid or lubricant when drilling steel to reduce heat and improve tool life. Withdraw the bit periodically to clear chips from the hole when drilling deeper sections.
For best results, match drilling speed and lubrication to the metal type: lower RPM and cutting oil for hard steels, higher RPM and minimal lubricant for aluminum. Replace the bit when wear or chipping reduces accuracy or increases required feed force.
