Drill bit Art-Pol HSS precision-bored for metal 20 mm AR50200
Art-Pol HSS precision-bored drill bit with a 20 mm cutting diameter is made from solid high-speed steel and designed for accurate metal drilling. The tool is intended for applications where hole size precision and concentricity are important. Its geometry and precision-bored flutes provide stable cutting and consistent hole diameters when used in hand-held drills or drill presses on steel, cast iron and non-ferrous metals.
The precision-bored manufacturing process ensures tight tolerances on diameter and improved concentricity compared with standard twist drills. High-speed steel construction delivers good wear resistance and heat tolerance during continuous drilling. The cutting geometry reduces walking at the start of drilling and improves chip evacuation, resulting in cleaner holes and reduced rework. The solid shank provides secure clamping in normal drill chucks and the 20 mm size covers common medium-diameter metalworking tasks.
Secure the workpiece firmly and mark the drilling point. Use an appropriate pilot or centre punch to prevent walking, especially on smooth surfaces. Fit the drill bit into a correctly rated chuck and set the drill or drill press to a suitable cutting speed for HSS and the material being drilled. Apply steady axial pressure and allow the drill to cut without forcing; withdraw occasionally to clear chips and reduce heat build-up. For larger holes or harder materials, use cutting fluid to improve tool life and surface finish.
For best results, match drilling speed to the work material (lower speeds for harder steels, higher for aluminium), use cutting fluid on steel and cast iron, and re-sharpen or replace the bit when wear affects hole accuracy. Always use appropriate personal protective equipment and secure the workpiece before drilling.
