Tabletop wireless router Asus ROG STRIX GS-AX5400, Dual-band 2.4/5 GHz, Wi‑Fi 6 (802.11ax), Gigabit Ethernet, 4x LAN, USB, black
The Asus ROG STRIX GS-AX5400 is a tabletop dual-band wireless router that supports the Wi‑Fi 6 (802.11ax) standard and offers combined throughput up to 5378 Mbit/s. Designed for home and small office environments, the router provides simultaneous 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz operation, four external antennas for wireless coverage, four Gigabit Ethernet LAN ports for wired devices and a USB port for network storage or shared peripherals. Security and remote access capabilities include WPA2/3, WPA-Enterprise, WPS, SSH and support for VPN server protocols (IPSec, OVPN, PPTP).
The GS-AX5400 delivers higher wireless capacity and lower latency compared with previous Wi‑Fi standards, enabling multiple devices to operate concurrently with improved responsiveness. Gigabit Ethernet LAN ports provide reliable wired connections for desktops, consoles or smart home hubs, while the USB port expands functionality for file sharing or media servers. Built-in security features and VPN server support allow for secure remote access and protection of connected devices.
Place the router on a flat tabletop surface in a central location to maximize wireless coverage. Connect your internet modem to the WAN port and attach wired devices to the Gigabit LAN ports using Ethernet cables. Use the router’s web interface or the Asus Router mobile app to finish initial setup, configure SSIDs for 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands, set security options (WPA2/WPA3), and enable VPN server features if remote access is required. Connect USB storage to the USB port and enable file sharing or media server functions through the router settings.
For best wireless performance, position the GS-AX5400 away from large metal objects and other sources of interference, keep firmware up to date, and use the 5 GHz band for latency-sensitive activities such as gaming and HD streaming while reserving 2.4 GHz for longer-range or legacy devices. When using VPN server features, follow secure password and certificate practices and review allowed client types to maintain network security.
