SBC gateway AudioCodes Mediant 800
The AudioCodes Mediant 800 enterprise session border controller (SBC) and media gateway delivers a compact 1U solution for small-to-medium sized enterprises requiring reliable voice connectivity. Supporting up to 124 voice channels and scaling to 400 concurrent SIP sessions, the Mediant 800 provides interoperability between TDM and VoIP networks, connects IP-PBXs to SIP trunking providers and enables PSTN access for IP-based systems. The device supports multiple voice codecs and common security protocols while offering flexible mounting options for rack or desktop use.
The Mediant 800 combines SBC and media gateway functions in a single 1U platform, offering support for both SIP-to-SIP interworking and legacy TDM PBX integration. It supports up to 124 voice channels and up to 400 concurrent sessions, provides hardware interfaces for FXS/FXO integration, and includes broad codec support such as AMR, G.722.2, OPUS, Silk and iLBC. Built-in security features—HTTPS, SRTP, SSH and TLS—plus RADIUS authentication enhance secure deployment in enterprise environments. Ethernet ports supporting 10/100/1000 Mbps ensure network compatibility and reliable connectivity.
Install the Mediant 800 in a rack or place it on a desktop and connect it to the LAN via Ethernet ports. Configure network parameters and SIP trunk settings through the device management interface according to the SIP provider and IP‑PBX requirements. Map FXS/FXO ports as needed for analog extensions or PSTN lines, and select appropriate codecs to match endpoints and service provider capabilities. Apply security settings (TLS, SRTP, HTTPS) and RADIUS authentication as part of the deployment checklist.
For reliable operation, deploy the Mediant 800 in a controlled network environment with proper QoS settings and monitoring. Use matching codec settings across IP-PBX and SIP trunks to minimize transcoding. Keep firmware up to date and follow AudioCodes configuration guidance for high-availability and security best practices.
