SBC gateway/controller AudioCodes Mediant 800
The AudioCodes Mediant 800 enterprise session border controller (SBC) and media gateway is a compact 1U platform designed for small and medium-sized businesses. It provides flexible connectivity between TDM and VoIP networks, supporting up to 124 voice channels and scaling to 400 concurrent SIP sessions. The device connects IP-PBXs to SIP trunking providers, links SIP-to-SIP environments, and bridges legacy TDM PBX systems to IP networks and the PSTN.
The Mediant 800 offers a combination of gateway and SBC functions in a single 1U unit, supporting multiple voice codecs (including AMR, G.722.2, OPUS, Silk and iLBC) and Ethernet LAN speeds of 10/100/1000 Mbit/s. It provides enhanced security with HTTPS, SRTP, SSH and TLS, and supports RADIUS authentication. With built-in FXS/FXO interfaces, the unit enables flexible connections to analog endpoints and PSTN lines while maintaining interoperability between SIP and TDM systems.
Install the Mediant 800 in a standard 19-inch rack using the 1U form factor. Connect the Ethernet interfaces to your LAN and configured SIP trunk or IP-PBX. Use the device management interface to configure SIP trunks, codec priorities, security settings (HTTPS, TLS, SRTP) and RADIUS authentication as required. If needed, connect analog phones or PSTN lines to the FXS/FXO ports and map them in call routing rules to integrate TDM and IP domains.
For reliable operation, keep firmware updated to the latest AudioCodes release, configure appropriate security policies (TLS/SRTP and access controls), and monitor session usage to ensure the unit operates within its supported channel and session limits.
