Battery charger AVACOM JVL-505 for AA/AAA cells with LCD display
AVACOM JVL-505 is an intelligent four-channel charger for AA and AAA rechargeable cells. It supports Ni‑MH and Ni‑Cd chemistries and provides selectable charging currents of 200 mA, 500 mA, 700 mA and 1000 mA. Each slot is independently controlled by a microprocessor and the built-in LCD shows current, voltage, capacity and elapsed time for charging or discharging. The unit includes a USB output (5 V / 1000 mA) for charging mobile devices and offers safety features such as automatic detection of faulty cells, overheat protection, short-circuit protection and reverse-polarity/overcharge protection.
The charger offers independent control of four slots, allowing different battery sizes and states to be handled simultaneously. Selectable pulse charging currents enable economical charging adapted to battery condition, while the regeneration mode can restore long-unused cells by repeated discharge/charge cycles. The clear per-slot LCD provides real-time data (mA, V, mAh, h) and the integrated 5 V USB output increases versatility. Built-in protections help prevent damage from overheating, short circuits, reversed polarity and overcharging.
Connect the charger to a 12 V DC supply, insert AA or AAA rechargeable cells into the slots observing polarity, then select the desired charging current for each slot. The microprocessor will manage charging and display current, voltage, capacity and time for each channel. Use the regeneration mode for batteries that have not been used for an extended period. To charge a USB device, connect it to the 5 V USB port; the port provides up to 1000 mA.
Use appropriate charging currents based on battery capacity and condition: lower currents for small or partially degraded cells, higher currents for fresh, high-capacity cells. Remove batteries after charging completes and store charged cells at recommended temperatures. Do not attempt to charge non-rechargeable batteries.
