The AWTOOLS AW20246 threading tool is a hand-held die stock designed for rigid clamping of round thread dies in general metalworking and maintenance tasks. Constructed from carbon alloy steel and aluminum, the tool combines strength and reduced weight. The removable galvanized steel handles are knurled at the ends for improved grip. The die holder is compatible with closed and slotted dies and follows DIN 225 dimensions, with an adjustable die clamp secured by five screws.
The tool’s alloy steel and aluminum construction provides a balance of durability and manageable weight, making it suitable for repeated manual threading operations. Removable, galvanized steel handles with knurling ensure secure hand contact and better torque control. The five-screw adjustable die clamp offers precise centring and secure retention of dies, while compatibility with both closed and slotted dies increases versatility for different threading standards and repair jobs.
Select the appropriate closed or slotted round die for the required thread size and place it into the die holder. Secure the die by evenly tightening the five adjustment screws until the die is rigidly clamped and centered. Attach or position the removable handles to obtain the desired leverage. Align the die with the workpiece, apply cutting lubricant as recommended for the material, and turn the tool steadily to cut or restore the external thread. Periodically reverse direction to clear chips and check thread progress, then release the screws to remove the die when finished.
Use appropriate cutting lubricants for the material being threaded, ensure even tightening of the five clamp screws to avoid die misalignment, and keep the knurled handles clean and free of oil for better grip. Inspect dies and the clamping surfaces for wear before use and store the removable handles and dies in a dry place to prevent corrosion.
