Concrete float AWTools AW30071 – hand float for smoothing concrete surfaces
AWTools AW30071 is a 150 cm concrete hand float made of hardened aluminium alloy with a trapezoid profile designed for smoothing and levelling fresh and slightly dried cementitious surfaces. The tool compacts and evens out concrete and similar materials, helping to remove minor surface irregularities and to prepare slabs for subsequent finishing. Built-in thumb groove and double-sided plastic shock-absorbing end plugs improve handling and protect the profile during use.
The aluminium alloy construction offers a balance of low weight and increased hardness, making the float durable and easy to manoeuvre over large areas. The trapezoid-shaped profile provides a consistent working edge along the full 150 cm length, while the thumb groove enhances grip and control. Plastic shock-absorbing end plugs reduce damage to the tool and surrounding surfaces when the float is set down or during transport. The tool is suitable for use on concrete, plaster and gypsum where manual consolidation and finishing are needed.
Hold the float by the thumb groove and apply even pressure while moving the tool across the surface in long, overlapping strokes. Work from the edges toward the centre or follow the planned finishing sequence for the slab. For fresh concrete, use the float to compact and level the surface before texturing or trowelling. For slightly dried plaster or gypsum, use lighter pressure and repeat passes until the desired smoothness is achieved. Clean the float after use to remove adhered material and inspect the end plugs and profile for wear.
Use the AWTools hand float on surfaces that are firm enough to support the tool but not fully cured; avoid excessive force that could gouge softer materials. Store in a dry place to prevent corrosion, and replace end plugs if they become damaged to maintain protection for the profile and surfaces.
