Socket for Spark Plugs AWTools 16 mm Black Line
AWTools 16 mm spark plug socket from the Black Line series is a compact workshop tool designed for removal and installation of spark plugs with a 16 mm hex. The socket fits standard 16 mm spark plug hex heads and is intended for use with hand ratchets and breaker bars on automotive engines. Its internal design secures the porcelain insulator during service to reduce the risk of chip or crack damage while providing a reliable drive connection for controlled torque application.
The Black Line socket offers a secure fit on 16 mm spark plug hexes and is suitable for confined engine compartments thanks to its compact length. A protective internal sleeve cushions the spark plug ceramic and helps prevent slipping during extraction or installation. The socket is compatible with common 1/4" and 3/8" drive adaptors when used with corresponding ratchets, enabling flexible use across different hand tools.
Select a ratchet or breaker bar with the correct drive adaptor to match the socket. Fit the AWTools 16 mm socket over the spark plug hex and ensure the internal sleeve grips the porcelain insulator. Turn counterclockwise to loosen and remove the spark plug, and clockwise to install, applying the manufacturer’s recommended torque. Use steady, controlled force and avoid over-torquing; inspect the spark plug and socket sleeve for damage after each use.
The socket is intended for automotive spark plug service; always verify the spark plug hex size before use and follow vehicle manufacturer torque specifications. Keep the protective sleeve clean and replace the tool if the sleeve or internal surfaces are worn to maintain safe handling of spark plugs.
