Drill bit pack AWTools AW42025, 10 pcs, metal/wood/general purpose
AWTools AW42025 drill bit pack includes 10 straight-shank high-speed steel bits with 5% cobalt (HSS-Co), precision ground and finished with a two-cutting-edge geometry. Each bit features a centering point with a 135° point angle to improve start accuracy and reduce walking. The set is supplied in a case and is intended for general drilling tasks in metal, wood and other common workshop materials. Bits are compatible with standard hand drills and drill drivers for shop and home improvement use.
The use of HSS-Co high-speed steel with 5% cobalt increases heat resistance and wear life compared with standard HSS bits. Precision grinding and two-cutting-edge geometry provide cleaner holes and reduced cutting forces. The 135° centering point helps accurate positioning and faster penetration in alloyed and unalloyed steels, grey cast iron, non‑ferrous metals and plastics. The straight shank design ensures compatibility with common chucks, and the supplied case keeps the 10 bits organised for storage and transport.
Select a drill bit size appropriate for the required hole diameter and secure it in the drill chuck. When drilling metal, use a lubricant or cutting fluid to reduce heat and extend bit life, and start at a low speed to establish the hole, increasing speed as the bit progresses according to material recommendations. For plastics and softer materials, use moderate speeds and steady feed to prevent melting or chipping. Apply consistent axial pressure and avoid excessive side loading to maintain bit life and hole quality. After use, clean shavings from the flutes and store the bits in the case.
For best results when drilling hardened or thick metal, pilot drill with a smaller diameter and use cutting fluid. Always match drill speed to material hardness: lower speeds for steels and cast iron, higher speeds for non‑ferrous metals and plastics. Inspect bits regularly for wear and replace when edges become rounded or chipping occurs.
