Drill bit set AWTools AW42035 — twist drill bits, pack of 10
AWTools AW42035 — pack of 10 twist drill bits made from HSS-Co high-speed steel with 5% cobalt, designed for general drilling tasks in metal, wood and plastic depending on the chosen bit. The set contains precision-ground, two-cutting-edge bits with a centering point and a 135° point angle, supplied in a storage case for convenient handling and transport. These bits are compatible with handheld drills and drill presses, and are intended for repair, maintenance and DIY projects.
The HSS-Co composition with 5% cobalt increases heat resistance and wear life compared with standard HSS, reducing dulling during prolonged drilling operations. Precision grinding and two cutting edges ensure accurate hole shape and consistent cutting performance. The 135° centering point improves starting accuracy and reduces walking on the workpiece. Supplied in a case for organised storage and safe transport.
Select a drill bit of the appropriate diameter for the required hole and secure it firmly in the drill chuck. For metal drilling, use a suitable cutting fluid to reduce heat buildup and extend tool life. Start drilling at low speed to engage the centering point, then increase speed according to material and bit size while applying steady pressure. Clear chips periodically and allow the bit to cool if it becomes excessively hot. After use, clean and store the bits in the supplied case to protect the cutting edges.
Use lower speeds and cutting lubricant when drilling alloyed steels and thicker sections; for non-ferrous metals and plastics a higher speed with light feed gives cleaner holes. Regularly inspect bits for wear and replace if the cutting edges are rounded or damaged to maintain hole quality and operator safety.
