Drill Bit AWTools M2 HSS-TiN 6 mm Split Point Xtreme (Black Line)
AWTools Drill Bit M2 HSS-TiN 6 mm Split Point Xtreme (Black Line) is a solid high-speed steel (M2 HSS) cutting tool with a titanium nitride (TiN) coating. The 6 mm diameter bit features a Split Point Xtreme tip designed to improve centring and reduce walking when starting holes in steel, non-ferrous metals and other common workshop materials. It is compatible with hand drills and drill presses for general maintenance, construction and fabrication tasks where precision and wear resistance are required.
The TiN coating increases surface hardness and reduces friction, extending tool life compared with uncoated HSS bits. The Split Point Xtreme geometry helps the bit self-centre at the start of drilling, minimising skidding and the need for pilot points on many surfaces. Solid M2 high-speed steel provides toughness and heat resistance appropriate for drilling into mild and medium-strength steels as well as aluminium and other metals commonly found in workshop and construction applications.
This 6 mm M2 HSS-TiN drill bit is intended for general metalworking and is not designed for high-production industrial drilling of hardened steels or abrasive materials where carbide or coated carbide tools are more appropriate. For very hard work-hardened stainless steels, cast iron, masonry, concrete, wood or plastics with special requirements, choose a material-specific drill bit type.
Secure the workpiece and use appropriate clamping to prevent movement. Select a suitable cutting speed and feed for the material being drilled; lower speeds are recommended for harder steels while higher speeds can be used for aluminium. Apply steady pressure and allow the drill bit to cut without excessive force. Use cutting fluid or coolant when drilling steel to reduce heat and extend tool life. Periodically clear chips from the hole and inspect the bit for wear; regrind or replace the bit if the cutting edges become blunted or the TiN coating is damaged.
For best results, use the AWTools 6 mm M2 HSS-TiN Split Point Xtreme bit at recommended speeds for the material, secure the workpiece, and use cutting fluid on steel. Replace the bit when cutting performance drops to maintain hole quality and safety.
