Drill bit AWTools AW42771 — replacement drill bit, model AW42771

AWTools AW42771 replacement drill bit is an alloy steel drilling accessory with a carbide tip and two cutting edges, engineered for general-purpose and trade use. The double spiral flute design improves chip evacuation and reduces heat build-up during drilling. With a 130° point angle and a geometry suited for impact drilling, this bit is intended for use in masonry, concrete, granite, natural stone, brick and ceramic tile and is compatible with hammer drills and rotary hammers.

Advantages

The combination of alloy steel body and carbide tip provides wear resistance on abrasive materials while maintaining cutting performance. The two-cutting-edge design offers stable centering and efficient penetration, and the double spiral flute accelerates removal of dust and debris to maintain drill bit cooling. A 130° point angle balances fast entry with reduced chipping on hard brittle materials, making the bit reliable for repeated drilling in masonry and stone.

Suitable for

• Drilling holes in concrete and reinforced masonry
• Working with natural stone, granite and brick
• Cutting through ceramic tiles when used with appropriate technique
• General repair and construction tasks with hammer drills and rotary hammers

Key specifications

• Material: alloy steel body with carbide tip
• Cutting edges: two-edge configuration
• Flute type: double spiral flute for improved chip evacuation
• Point angle: 130°
• Recommended tool types: hammer drill and rotary hammer
• Application materials: masonry, concrete, granite, natural stone, brick, ceramic tile

How to use

Secure the drill bit in the chuck or SDS holder according to the drill manufacturer’s instructions. Select hammer mode when drilling into concrete, masonry or stone, and use rotary-only mode for delicate ceramic tiles to reduce cracking. Start drilling at low speed to establish a guide point, then increase speed and apply steady pressure without forcing the bit. Periodically withdraw the bit to clear dust and allow cooling. Use appropriate personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, dust mask and hearing protection.

Usage recommendations

For optimal lifetime, avoid excessive side loads and overheating; when drilling deep holes, withdraw the bit frequently to clear debris. Match the drill speed and hammer setting to the material—lower speeds for hard stone and tiles, higher speeds with hammer action for concrete and brick.
