Drill bit AWTools AW42814 — twist drill bit, model AW42814
AWTools AW42814 — a twist drill bit designed for general drilling tasks in masonry and natural stone. Constructed from 40Cr alloy steel with a carbide tip and two cutting edges, this model is intended for use with standard drills, hammer drills and rotary hammers. The double spiral flute removes debris efficiently to reduce friction and overheating, while the grooved SDS+ shank secures the bit in compatible chucks to prevent accidental release during operation.
The AWTools AW42814 combines a 40Cr alloy steel body with a carbide-tipped, two-cutting-edge geometry to deliver improved wear resistance and consistent hole quality in hard materials. The double spiral flute provides reliable chip evacuation, lowering the risk of jamming and heat build-up. The grooved SDS+ shank ensures stable retention in hammer drills and rotary hammers, enabling safer and more controlled drilling. Designed specifically for masonry-related applications, the bit offers predictable performance on brick, concrete, granite, natural stone and ceramic tiles.
Select a drill or rotary hammer compatible with SDS+ shanks and fit the AWTools AW42814 securely into the chuck or tool coupling. Mark the drilling position, start at low speed to establish the hole, then apply steady pressure and increase speed or hammer action as appropriate for the material. Maintain perpendicular alignment to the work surface for straight holes. Periodically withdraw the bit to clear accumulated material and allow the carbide tip to cool; for deep holes, withdraw more frequently to remove debris and prevent overheating.
Use protective equipment such as safety glasses, gloves and hearing protection when drilling. For reinforced concrete, ensure correct hammer mode and suitable drilling technique; avoid excessive lateral forces. When drilling ceramic tiles, use light pressure and consider a masking tape guide to reduce chipping. Replace the bit if the carbide tip becomes dull or damaged to maintain drilling quality and safety.
