Drill bit AWTools AW42834 — replacement bit for general drilling tasks
Drill bit AWTools AW42834 — replacement bit for general drilling tasks
AWTools AW42834 — replacement bit for general drilling tasks is a standard drill bit intended for routine drilling in masonry, concrete, granite, natural stone, brick and ceramic tiles. Made of 40CR alloy steel with a carbide tip and two cutting edges, this replaceable bit is designed to work with compatible handheld hammer drills and rotary hammers. The double spiral flute evacuates debris efficiently, helping to reduce heat build-up during continuous drilling, while the grooved SDS+ shank secures the bit in the chuck to prevent accidental release.
The combination of 40CR alloy steel body and a carbide tip provides a balance of toughness and wear resistance suitable for abrasive materials. Two cutting edges and a carbide tip ensure consistent cutting performance and improved penetration in hard substrates. The double spiral flute design promotes effective removal of drilling dust and chips, reducing friction and the risk of clogging. The grooved SDS+ shank allows for quick, secure mounting and reduces the chance of slipping or falling out during hammering action.
Select a drill or rotary hammer compatible with SDS+ shanks and fit the AWTools replacement bit according to the tool manufacturer’s instructions until it locks into place. Mark the drilling position and start at a moderate speed to establish a pilot point, then increase to the appropriate hammering/drilling setting for the material. Apply steady axial pressure without excessive force; allow the carbide tip and cutting edges to cut and the double spiral flute to remove debris. Periodically withdraw the bit to clear accumulated dust and check bit temperature. Use appropriate personal protective equipment such as eye protection, hearing protection and dust extraction or masking when drilling dust-producing materials.
For prolonged life of the drill bit and improved drilling quality, avoid continuous high-pressure forcing and allow short cooling intervals when drilling deep holes. Match drill speed and hammer impact to the hardness of the material, and ensure the drill and bit are clean and undamaged before use. Replace the bit if the carbide tip becomes blunt or chipped to maintain safe and efficient performance.
