Drill bit AWTools AW42836 — model AW42836, weight 212 g
AWTools AW42836 is a 212 g drill bit engineered for masonry and stone applications. Constructed from 40CR alloy steel with a carbide tip and two cutting edges, this AW42836 model provides reliable drilling performance in hard materials. The double spiral flute design helps evacuate debris and reduce heat buildup, while the grooved SDS+ shank secures the bit in compatible hammer drills and rotary hammers.
The carbide tip and two-cutting-edge geometry deliver consistent penetration and extended tip life when working with concrete, brick and natural stone. The 40CR alloy steel body offers toughness and resistance to bending under load. The double spiral flute accelerates dust and chip removal to maintain cutting efficiency and minimize overheating. The grooved SDS+ shank ensures a secure fit in SDS+ chucks, reducing the risk of slippage during hammering.
Install the AWTools AW42836 into an SDS+ chuck according to the drill manufacturer's instructions until it locks in place. Select appropriate drilling speed and hammer function based on the material: lower speeds and steady pressure for hard stone and granite, moderate speeds for concrete and brick. Apply firm, even pressure without forcing the bit; allow the hammer action to do the work. Periodically withdraw the bit to clear accumulated dust and prevent clogging of the flute.
Use appropriate personal protective equipment including safety glasses, hearing protection and a dust mask. For ceramic tiles, start with a light pilot hole and avoid excessive hammer action near tile edges. For prolonged drilling or large-diameter holes, cool the bit occasionally and clear debris to extend tool life.
