Drill bit AWTools AW42837, straight shank, weight 264 g
The AWTools AW42837 drill bit is a robust tool intended for drilling in masonry, concrete, granite, natural stone, brick and ceramic tiles. Made from 40CR alloy steel with a carbide tip and two cutting edges, this straight-shank bit weighs 264 g and is compatible with hammer drills and rotary hammers. Its double spiral flute and grooved SDS+ shank are engineered to improve chip removal and secure retention during demanding drilling tasks.
The 40CR alloy steel body provides strength and resistance to wear while the carbide tip maintains cutting performance when penetrating hard materials. Two cutting edges ensure stable drilling and accurate hole formation, and the double spiral flute accelerates the evacuation of debris to reduce friction and overheating. The grooved SDS+ shank design prevents the drill bit from slipping or falling out under hammering action, offering reliable engagement with compatible chucks.
Secure the AWTools AW42837 drill bit into the SDS+ chuck of a compatible hammer drill or rotary hammer according to the tool manufacturer’s instructions. Select the appropriate drilling mode (hammering for masonry and concrete, rotary-only where required for tiles) and mark the drilling point. Apply steady pressure and keep the drill perpendicular to the work surface. Periodically withdraw the bit to clear material and allow cooling; use water cooling when drilling ceramic tiles or stone if recommended for the material and tool. After use, inspect the carbide tip and flutes for wear and clean debris from the shank before storage.
Use the AW42837 with the correct drill speed and hammer setting for the material. For prolonged drilling in hard stone or reinforced concrete, pause periodically to avoid overheating and consider using a drilling lubricant or intermittent water cooling where appropriate. Replace the bit when the carbide tip becomes blunt or the flutes are damaged to maintain drilling efficiency and safety.
