Drill bit AWTools AW42851 — model AW42851, weight 156 g
The AWTools AW42851 drill bit is a single-purpose masonry bit designed for drilling holes in concrete, brick, natural stone, granite and ceramic tiles. Constructed with a 40CR alloy steel body and a YG8C tungsten carbide head, this 156 g drill bit is intended for use in compatible hammer drills and rotary impact hammer drills. The SDS+ grooved shank provides secure retention in the drill chuck and the two-cutter spiral design promotes efficient chip removal while helping to reduce vibration and overheating during operation.
The AWTools AW42851 combines a hard tungsten carbide head with a durable 40CR alloy steel body to balance cutting performance and toughness. Its 2-cutter spiral geometry improves spoil evacuation for continuous drilling in dense materials, and the SDS+ grooved shank minimizes the risk of the bit slipping or falling out under impact. The construction and design reduce heat buildup and vibration, supporting longer life and more precise hole placement when used within recommended applications.
Fit the AWTools AW42851 drill bit into an SDS+ compatible hammer drill or rotary impact hammer drill, ensuring the shank is fully engaged and locked. Select the hammer or rotary impact mode as appropriate for the material being drilled. Start drilling at low speed to establish the pilot point, then increase to the recommended operating speed for the tool and material. Apply steady, even pressure without forcing the bit; allow the tungsten carbide head and the two-cutter spiral to remove spoil. Periodically withdraw the bit to clear chips and prevent clogging. If drilling tiles or brittle stone, use a light touch and keep the drill perpendicular to the surface to avoid chipping.
Use appropriate personal protective equipment such as eye protection, dust mask and hearing protection. Match drill speed and impact force to the material; reduce feed pressure if excessive vibration or smoke appears. For reinforced concrete, use progressive drilling and check for rebar; if rebar is encountered, use a designated rebar-cutting bit. Store the bit in a dry place to prevent corrosion and inspect the carbide tip for wear before use.
