Concrete drill bit AWTools SDS+ 16 mm model AW42857
Concrete drill bit AWTools SDS+ 16 mm model AW42857
AWTools SDS+ 16 mm concrete drill bit (model AW42857) is a rotary drilling accessory designed for use with hammer drills that accept SDS+ chucks. The 16 mm diameter carbide-tipped bit is specified for drilling into concrete, masonry and similar dense substrates. Its design combines a reinforced shank with a precision-ground flute to remove dust efficiently and maintain drilling progress in construction and renovation tasks such as installing anchors, fastening fixtures and creating passage holes.
The AWTools SDS+ 16 mm bit provides consistent drilling performance in concrete and masonry thanks to a hardened head and optimized flute geometry that evacuates debris. Its SDS+ shank ensures secure fitting and quick changeover in compatible hammer drills. The carbide tip is manufactured for resistance to wear under repeated impact drilling, supporting reliable hole accuracy and longer service life compared with standard twist bits when used in appropriate applications.
Insert the SDS+ shank fully into the drill chuck until it locks, ensuring the tool is switched off and unplugged or the battery removed before changing accessories. Select the hammer drilling mode on the rotary hammer, position the bit perpendicular to the work surface and start drilling at low speed to establish the center. Apply steady forward pressure without forcing the bit; allow the hammer action to do the cutting. Withdraw the bit periodically to clear dust from the hole and maintain drilling efficiency. After use, remove the bit and store it dry to prevent corrosion.
Use appropriate personal protective equipment including eye protection, hearing protection and dust mask when drilling. Match drill length and diameter to the anchor or fastener being installed and use a depth stop or marker to control hole depth. For reinforced concrete, use controlled speed and correct feed to reduce bit wear; replace the bit when the cutting performance diminishes to maintain hole accuracy.
