Masonry chisels AWTools AW43007, set weight 370 g, metal construction
AWTools AW43007 masonry chisels are metal hand tools designed for chiselling and shaping masonry materials. The set weighs 370 g and is intended for use with manual hammer strikes as well as with compatible rotary hammer drills for operations such as removing mortar, cutting brick or stone, and detail work in masonry, renovation and construction tasks. Constructed of CrV steel that has been hardened and tempered, these chisels are compact and portable for on-site and workshop use.
The chisels are made from chromium-vanadium (CrV) steel with hardening and tempering to provide improved wear resistance and edge retention under repeated impact. A wide blade design allows for faster collection and removal of material when scraping mortar or breaking out tile and thin masonry. Their metal construction and moderate total weight (370 g for the set) support controlled manual striking while maintaining portability for transport between job sites.
For manual use, position the chisel at the required angle against the masonry surface and strike the chisel head with a suitable hammer to remove mortar or break out material. For powered use, ensure the chisel is compatible with and correctly fitted into an SDS-PLUS rotary hammer drill according to the drill manufacturer's instructions; operate the tool at appropriate speed and impact settings for the material being worked. Maintain a firm grip and stable stance, and remove debris periodically to confirm progress and avoid overcutting.
Use appropriate personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection and dust mask. Inspect the chisel before use for signs of damage or excessive wear. Do not use a chisel with a mushroomed or deformed head. When working with powered tools, follow the rotary hammer drill safety and maintenance guidelines and use the correct chisel fitment for SDS-PLUS systems.
