Masonry chisels AWTools AW43113 set — weight 719 g, metal construction
AWTools AW43113 masonry chisels are a metal chisel set designed for masonry and stonework. Constructed from CrV steel that has been hardened and tempered, this set is intended for cutting, shaping and removing mortar, concrete and tile during construction, demolition and repair tasks. The set has a total weight of 719 g and is suitable for use with hand striking as well as with compatible powered striking tools.
The chisels’ CrV steel construction with heat treatment provides enhanced wear resistance and edge retention compared with untreated steel. Their metal construction and weight support efficient transfer of impact energy, making them suitable for breaking through concrete, tile and masonry. Compatibility with SDS-PLUS rotary hammer drills allows use with a wider range of powered tools for faster removal and shaping work.
Select the appropriate chisel profile for the task (flat for smoothing and removing mortar, pointed for focused breaking). Secure the workpiece or maintain a stable stance, then position the chisel on the intended area. For hand use, strike the chisel head with a suitable hammer; when using a rotary hammer drill, fit the chisel according to the tool manufacturer’s instructions and operate at recommended impact settings. Maintain control of the tool to avoid unintended damage to surrounding material and wear appropriate personal protective equipment.
Use safety glasses, gloves and hearing protection during striking or powered use. Inspect chisels for damage or excessive wear before each use and replace if the cutting edge is deformed or the shank is cracked. Store in a dry place to prevent corrosion and periodically hone the working edge if necessary to maintain performance.
