Drill bit AWTools AW43542 — metal/wood drilling accessory, standard shank
AWTools AW43542 is a versatile drill bit intended for handheld drills, hammer drills and rotary hammers. Constructed from 40CR alloy steel with a YG8C carbide-tipped blade, this accessory combines a durable body with a hard cutting tip to handle a range of materials. The bit is designed with a centering point and a 130° point angle to improve entry accuracy, and a double spiral to evacuate chips efficiently, reducing heat and vibration during drilling.
The carbide-tipped blade and four cutting edges provide precise, smooth holes and lower the likelihood of jamming when encountering rebar. The double-spiral flute geometry promotes reliable chip removal and helps maintain cooler cutting conditions. A grooved SDS+ style shank secures the bit in compatible chucks to prevent accidental release during use. Overall construction balances toughness and cutting performance for repeated drilling in demanding substrates.
Fit the AWTools AW43542 into a compatible SDS+ chuck or secure it in the drill’s holder following the tool manufacturer’s instructions. Select hammer or rotary mode according to the material: use hammer function for concrete, reinforced concrete and masonry, and rotary mode for lighter tasks when appropriate. Begin drilling at low speed to establish the centering point, then increase speed and apply steady pressure. Periodically withdraw the bit to clear debris and allow cooling. Replace the bit when wear of the carbide tip or significant chipping is visible to maintain performance and safety.
Wear appropriate personal protective equipment such as safety goggles, gloves and hearing protection. Use the correct drill and settings for the material, and avoid excessive axial force which can cause premature wear or bit breakage. For best results in reinforced concrete, use progressive drilling with intermittent clearing to prevent overheating and prolong bit life.
