Drill Bit AWTools AW43553 – metal/wood/concrete use, standard size
AWTools AW43553 is a multi‑purpose drill bit designed for use in metal, wood and concrete applications. Made from 40CR alloy steel with a YG8C carbide tipped blade and a centering point set at a 130° angle, this bit provides targeted penetration and sustained cutting performance. The double spiral flute design ensures efficient removal of drilled material, reducing heat buildup and vibration, while the four cutting edges deliver smooth hole finishes and lower the chance of jamming when encountering rebar. The grooved SDS+ shank secures the bit in compatible hammer drills and rotary hammers for construction, installation and repair tasks.
The combination of 40CR alloy steel core and YG8C carbide tip gives a balanced mix of toughness and wear resistance suitable for repeated drilling in hard materials. The 130° centering point improves accuracy at contact and reduces walking on the workpiece. Double spiral flutes promote fast dust and chip evacuation, which helps maintain drilling speed and prevents overheating. Four cutting edges create clean, precise holes and improve progress when penetrating reinforced concrete and masonry. The SDS+ grooved shank provides reliable retention in hammer drills and rotary hammers, lowering the risk of bit slippage during hammering action.
Select a drill or rotary hammer with an SDS+ chuck compatible with the AWTools AW43553. Mark the drilling location and, if needed, start with a smaller pilot hole. Fit the bit into the tool until it locks into the grooved shank. Use appropriate hammer or rotation mode according to the material: use hammering action for concrete and masonry, and rotary only for wood or metal. Apply steady, moderate pressure and allow the bit to remove material; avoid excessive force that can cause overheating or bit wear. Withdraw periodically to clear debris when drilling deep holes.
Wear appropriate personal protective equipment including eye and ear protection and a dust mask when drilling masonry. Use lubrication when drilling metal to extend tool life. For reinforced concrete, reduce speed and back the bit out regularly to clear chips. Ensure compatibility with your drill’s SDS+ system before use.
