Drill Bit AWTools AW43580 — AWTools AW43580, metal and wood drilling accessory
AWTools AW43580 drill bit is a replacement drilling accessory for workshop and home use, designed to perform general-purpose drilling tasks in a range of hard materials. Made with a 40CR alloy steel body and a YG8C carbide-tipped blade, the bit features a centering point with a 130° point angle and a four-cutting-edge design to deliver smooth, precise holes while minimising the risk of jamming. The double spiral flute ensures efficient removal of drilled material, helps prevent overheating and reduces vibration during operation. The grooved SDS+ shank secures the bit in compatible hammer drills and rotary hammers.
The combination of 40CR alloy steel and a YG8C carbide tip provides a balance of toughness and cutting durability suitable for repeated use. A 130° centering point improves accuracy at the start of drilling and reduces walking on the surface. Double spiral flutes promote fast debris ejection to maintain cutting efficiency and temperature control. Four cutting edges produce cleaner, smoother holes and lower the chance of the bit binding when encountering rebar. The SDS+ grooved shank offers secure retention in hammer drills and rotary hammers, making the bit reliable for impact and rotary applications.
Install the AWTools AW43580 into an SDS+ compatible hammer drill or rotary hammer according to the drill manufacturer's instructions and ensure the shank is fully engaged in the chuck. Select an appropriate drill speed and hammer/rotation mode for the material being drilled. Position the centering point on the marked spot, apply steady axial pressure and start drilling. Allow the double spiral flutes to clear chips; periodically withdraw the bit slightly to improve debris ejection in deep holes. Avoid excessive side load to preserve the carbide tip and maintain straight holes.
Use appropriate personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, hearing protection and gloves. For drilling reinforced concrete or when encountering rebar, reduce feed pressure and proceed slowly to avoid damaging the carbide tip. Keep the drill bit clean and inspect it for wear; replace the bit when cutting performance degrades or the tip is chipped to maintain safety and drilling quality.
