Clamp AWTools AW50111, hand clamp, weight 180 g
AWTools AW50111 hand clamp is a compact, lightweight clamp for holding and securing small workpieces during assembly, gluing, light workshop tasks and welding ground connections. Constructed from galvanized steel sheet, the clamp weighs 180 g and is designed for one-handed operation and precise positioning. Spring-loaded, copper-plated jaws and a copper braid between the jaws improve electrical conductivity to the workpiece, allowing the clamp to be used as a ground connection when creating a closed welding circuit.
The clamp combines corrosion-resistant galvanized steel with copper-plated jaws to provide mechanical durability and reliable electrical contact. Its spring-loaded design enables quick clamping and release with a single hand, while the compact form factor keeps the tool portable and easy to store. The integrated copper braid ensures consistent conductivity across the clamping surfaces, making the clamp suitable for tasks that require a secure ground connection during welding.
Open the clamp by pressing the handles and position the jaws over the workpiece or the welding ground point. Release the handles to allow the spring-loaded jaws to close and secure the object. For welding applications, attach the ground wire to the clamp and ensure the copper-plated jaws and copper braid make firm contact with clean metal to provide a reliable electrical path. Remove the clamp by squeezing the handles and lifting it away when the task is finished.
For optimal conductivity during welding, clean contact surfaces of rust, paint or debris before clamping. Avoid using the clamp on surfaces with excessive heat above typical welding temperatures for prolonged periods to prevent damage to plating and braid. Store the clamp dry to minimise corrosion and inspect the spring and braid periodically for wear.
