Description

The Axagon ADE-SR is a compact USB 3.0 to Gigabit Ethernet adapter that converts a USB port into a 10/100/1000 Mbit RJ-45 network interface. Equipped with the Realtek RTL8153 chipset and a permanently attached 15 cm USB Type-A cable, the adapter delivers Gigabit connectivity for desktops, laptops, ultrabooks and some mobile devices. It is backward compatible with USB 2.0/1.1 and supports automatic installation on modern operating systems without requiring a separate power supply.

Advantages

The adapter provides Gigabit bandwidth and a wide range of networking features including IPv4/IPv6 checksum offload to reduce CPU load, TCP large send offload, VLAN tagging and IEEE 802.1P priority handling. It supports Auto MDI/MDIX to remove the need for crossover cables, Jumbo frames, IEEE 802.3az energy-efficient operation and hardware CRC for transmission error detection. Full Plug and Play and Hot Plug are supported, and the device is powered from the USB bus.

How to use

Connect the permanently attached USB Type-A plug to a USB 3.0 (or USB 2.0) port on your computer or compatible device. Plug a standard UTP/STP Ethernet cable into the RJ-45 connector on the adapter and into your network equipment. In modern Windows, macOS and many Linux distributions the adapter installs automatically; if necessary, install drivers provided by the operating system or from the chipset vendor. No external power is required as the adapter is powered via USB.

Usage recommendations

For optimal Gigabit performance use a USB 3.0 port and a Cat5e or better Ethernet cable. Verify Android device compatibility with Ethernet and, if needed, use a suitable USB host or OTG adapter. If automatic installation does not occur, download and install the latest driver compatible with the Realtek RTL8153 chipset.
