The AXAGON ADR-205 active USB 2.0 extension cable (5 m) is a repeater cable with USB Type A male on one end and USB Type A female on the other end. It strengthens the USB signal to allow connection of a device at a greater distance than passive cables permit, and multiple ADR-205 repeater cables can be connected in series. The compact active module fits easily into power strips or cable systems. The cable uses shielded wiring to maintain data integrity and reduce interference while supporting USB 2.0 speeds.

Advantages

The ADR-205 supports USB 2.0 and is backward compatible with USB 1.1, handling low/full/high speeds (1.5 / 12 / 480 Mbit/s). How to use

Plug the USB Type A male connector into the host computer or upstream USB hub and connect the USB device to the Type A female connector at the cable end. If the connected device draws more current than the USB bus supplies (5 V / 500 mA), connect an external 5 V power adapter to the auxiliary power jack on the active module (adapter not included; AXAGON AC-5V2A recommended). Multiple ADR-205 active cables can be daisy-chained, and additional external power may be required for longer runs with several repeaters.

Usage recommendations

Use the ADR-205 with compatible operating systems (Windows XP and later, Windows Server variants, Mac OS X 10.x and higher, Linux kernel 2.6.x and above). Drivers are provided by the OS and install automatically. For devices with higher power requirements (for example 2.5" hard drives), connect an external 5 V/1–2 A adapter to ensure stable operation.
