Description

The Axagon ADR-220 is a 20 m active USB 2.0 extension/repeater cable with USB Type A male and female connectors. It boosts USB signals to enable connection of distant peripherals such as mice, keyboards, webcams, printers, scanners and plotters while maintaining USB 2.0 communication speeds up to 480 Mbit/s. The compact active module and shielded cable reduce interference and allow installation in cable ducts or power strips.

Advantages

The active repeater amplifies and regenerates the USB signal to extend the usable distance beyond a passive cable. An integrated connector for optional external 5 V power (3.5 × 1.3 mm jack) and the included USB-A to 3.5 mm power lead allow powering higher-consumption devices. The cable is fully compatible with USB 2.0 and backward compatible with USB 1.1, supports Plug and Play and shows connection and power status via two LEDs.

How to use

Connect the male USB-A end of the ADR-220 to the computer USB port and plug the remote USB device into the female USB-A end. If the connected device requires more power than the USB bus provides, plug the included USB-A to 3.5 mm cable into a suitable 5 V/ ≥1 A USB-A charger and into the active module’s power jack. Multiple ADR-220 cables may be connected in series to extend the route further; check power requirements when chaining repeaters.

Usage recommendations

For most peripherals the cable works without external power. When connecting power-hungry devices (for example some external 2.5" drives) or when using several repeaters in series, use the external 5 V power supply to ensure stable operation.
